Allocate funds each year for town promotion. Pay for a range of town promotion activities over and above those undertaken by the District Council. These could include promotional leaflets and advertising, tour guides, street entertainment programmes, welcome packs for tourist accomodation and town crying. |
| 2 Pay on exit parking (project no.35) |
Campaign in support of the idea of pay on exit parking and work with the the local authority to promote the widest use of this method of parking in the town. |
| 3 Pedestrianisation of South St (project no.41) |
Enhance the visitor experience in Dorchester by campaigning for the earliest possible pedestrianisation of the south end of South Street while at the same time improving facilities for the disabled. |
| 4 Plastic Shopping Bag Free Town (project no.45) |
This proposal is to supply each household and business in Dorchester with an environmentally and ethically made and sustainably produced cotton shopping bag to publicise Dorchester's commitment to becoming a plastic bag free town. |

Provide a fund to support the provision of Christmas lights and the all year round colour washing/laser lighting of important buildings. |

Develop a fully integrated interactive website to be the focus for town promotion. This should link with tourism websites and allow visitors to book a variety of facilities online and download maps of facilities and walks. |

| 8 Collect cardboard (project no.4) |
Support the collection of cardboard waste for recycling. Make the roll out of the WDDC pilot cardboard waste collection programme more attractive to local businesses to ensure that the maximum amount of cardboard is recycled. |
| 9 Add a park and ride bus (project no.7) |
Work in partnership with the local authority to add more capacity to the current 2 bus park and ride provision. Ensure that no-one has to wait longer than a few minutes for a bus in the park and ride scheme by contributing to a third bus in busy periods. |
| 10 Co-ordination of music (project no.38) |
Provide a co-ordination and marketing service plus help with funding for music in local venues. Encourage the development of the local music scene and young players by promoting opportunities for young players to get an audience. |
| 11 Featured roundabouts (project no.28) |
Brighten up roundabouts around Dorchester by theming them with planting and/or sculpture. One could take the theme of the Jurassic Coast and feature a dinosaur sculpture. |
| 12 Better signage (project no.31) |
Aim to draw visitor attention to where the shops are located. Try to phase out use of A boards by providing much better fingerposting. Improve number of visitor information signs around town and add information specific to historic sites. |
| 13 Window dressing (project no.16) |
Provide a window dressing seminar for businesses. This would be a free seminar/training day for any businesses interested in getting the maximum footfall into their store. There could also be follow up 1 to 1 visit from a consultant to help create a tailored solution for your store. |
| 14 Deep Cleaning (project no.1) |
Deep clean all the alleys in Dorchester in a rolling programme. Steam clean and litter pick all the alleys and public spaces in Dorchester over and above the standard Council cleaning. |
| 15 Brown Signs (project no.43) |
Campaign to maintain, and even improve, Dorchester's Brown Tourism signing.
Dorchester's existing brown signs are under threat. Campaign for the retention of these signs and an improvement in their presententaion and onward signing into the town centre. |
| 16 Business Locator Boards (project no.59) |
To provide information boards which the public can use to locate businesses within the town. These could be placed at entry points from the Car Parks and centrally. Selecting a category would indicate, on a map, exactly where a business can be found. |
