Lobby to reduce or prevent the amount of traffic including heavy lorries and speeding cars. With famous Georgian buildings, several museums, eateries, town hall, specialist shops, famous church, and pedestrian access to the library etc, High West and High East Streets are major destinations for visitors and tourists,therefore the neglect of these streets is detrimental to the whole town. Currently the traffic noise and pollution levels are unacceptable. In the short-term we need traffic calming measures, an extra pedestrian crossing near Frank Herring, and a ban on lorries. In the long-term we need pedestrianisation. |
