“Keeping it Simple” - An easier path to task/project success
Do you find yourself working through your lunch hours, working in the evening, having to re-do work because what you produced was not quite what was expected? Do you continually have to work to tight time scales? Do you have a lot of different assignments on at the same time?
Well you might not think it, but these problems can be simply addressed by classic project management techniques. Don't think that project management is all about building Wembley Stadium. Most projects in most organisations, and particularly in small businesses, are small. They are unlikely to be even called projects. Using a simple no-fuss technique (using just a single piece of paper!) these small projects can be managed effectively so you don't work through your lunch hour, so you do get the work right first time and you do hit deadlines and cost targets.
Obsideo is a project management organisation that works with some of the world's largest corporations (yes, based here in Dorchester!) and in collaboration with the Dorchester BID we have developed a simple project approach aimed squarely at small businesses based on a best selling book by Obsideo MD Mike Watson.
In a two hour session hosted by the Dorchester BID we aim to introduce you to the principles behind this approach and show you a few simple techniques to improve the management of your everyday assignments.
